Pierce College’s alumni event honors former students

Four Pierce College alumni were recognized at the college district’s Distinguished Alumni celebration April 17 on the Fort Steilacoom campus.

Distinguished alumni this year included Kate Starbird, an assistant professor at the University of Washington and a former professional basketball player; Natalie Mayer, an asset manager and philanthropist; Greg Brazell, the dean of social science and business at Pierce College; and Sheley Secrest, a policy analyst and past president of the Seattle/King County NAACP.

Pierce College selected nominees based on their achievements in academics, business, community or humanitarian support, or triumph over adversity.
