City to raise its garbage rates by 20 cents

The City of Sumner’s refuse rates, in accordance with the contract with D.M. Disposal, will be increased 20 cents effective March 15.

The contract calls for an annual consumer-price index adjustment of 80 percent of the change in the October CPI computed by the Seattle-Tacoma area.

New rates are:

Micro-can: $13.56

Mini-can: $18.39

One can roadside: $22.71

Yard waste: $5.87

One yard once a week: $97.87

One yard twice a week: $195.73

One ton dump fee: $139.38
