Four years ago, Alyssa Feller had no interest in becoming a bowler. Now she’s one of the best in the state.
Feller, a sophomore at Rogers High School, placed third individually during the Class 4A state tournament last February.
“It didn’t really hit me until a couple of days later,” she said. “I knew I had done it, but it was really shocking at first and was really cool. I achieved something and completed my goal. It was a good personal ego boost and was a lot of fun.
“This year, my goal is to finish in second place,” she said. “I just want to work hard and keep getting better slowly, one step at a time.”
Feller hadn’t bowled until her dad, Tim, introduced her to the sport when she was in sixth grade.
“My parents have always tried to make sure I have good opportunities and want me to succeed,” Feller said. “When I first started bowling, I thought, ‘Why would I join bowling. It is so stupid.’ But now I love bowling. My dad really pushed me to play a sport, and now here I am. My dad rocks.”
The Herald recently asked Feller a few questions about her life away from the bowling alley.
