Puyallup Vikings goalie Ian Walsh allowed just four goals in his team's 17-4 victory against the Emerald Ridge Jaguars in a battle for bragging rights between rival schools on Oct. 2 at the Puyallup High School pool.
Puyallup's Jack Rose had a game-high four goals and Lane Griffin and Christian Braddock added three goals apiece for the Vikings, who improved its overall record to 10-1-1 with the win. Brendan Nelson had a team-high two goals for the Jaguars. Emerald Ridge dropped to 5-9. Walsh said his team didn't take the Jaguars lightly despite their sub-par record.
"We expected a tough game. They have some really good players and have a couple of guys who play club water polo," Walsh said. "The game ended up maybe being a little bit easier than we thought it would."
Griffin said his team was able to execute its opportunities offensively. The Vikings scored 15 goals in the final three quarters of play.
"We played pretty well together as a team. We tried to set some things up and work on our offense. It felt good to do that," Griffin said.
