Happy to read about Puyallup School District’s new year beginning with upgraded technology (“New school year to include technology upgrades district wide” by Tim Yeomans, Sept. 4). There are few things as valuable as a good education.
Students sometimes forget what a privilege a free education is. Fifty-seven million children in our world do not have even a primary education. A good project might be to find out why.
The Global Partnership for Education is working to change that. So is a new bill before Congress called the Education for All Act of 2013. It is one of the few bipartisan bills before the House.
We can make a difference in the lives of children by giving them the opportunity to get an education.
By involving American students in the process, we can give them an appreciation for their own education.
