With about two months left on his term, Puyallup City Council member Kent Boyle resigned last week.
Boyle issued a letter to City Manager Bill McDonald on Sept. 17 to announce he would step down. Boyle, who was finishing his first term on the council, said he and his wife found a home in Steilacoom.
“While resigning was not my intent, circumstances have occurred that make it necessary for me to leave two months before my term ends,” Boyle stated in the letter.
Boyle was not running for re-election. Chris McNutt and Julie Door are campaigning for the District 3 seat.
McDonald said since the general election is only weeks away, he and the city council have decided not to fill the seat in the interim.
“The electorate will take care of it,” McDonald said.
