Beyond the Athlete Lucas Trahan will be Rogers High School’s starting left tackle on opening day Friday night for the third straight season.
The Rams will face the Federal Way Eagles, who beat Rogers twice last season and eliminated the Rams in the first round of the Class 4A state playoffs.
“They got us both times last year,” Trahan said. “We were disappointed in the way we played. We’re definitely happy to get back out there and show them what we are made of this year.”
Trahan said this will the fifth year he’s played left tackle and protected senior quarterback Grayson Madland, one of his best friends.
“It’s special,” Trahan said. “I have played on the same team with Grayson since our days at Ballou Junior High School. Playing left tackle is definitely important because it is the quarterback’s blindside.”
Trahan enjoys being one of the elder statesmen on and off the field.
“It’s nice to know that the other guys are willing to come to you with the simplest of questions and not be afraid to ask,” he said. “Having younger guys look up to you and want to play like you do helps make me a better person because I carry myself better on and off the field. I like that responsibility.”
The Herald recently asked Trahan a few questions about his life away from the football field.
The Herald: What is your dream vacation spot?

LT: Michael Jordan.
