Longtime high school football radio announcers Carl Lambert and Ron Crowe will spend another year in their favorite surroundings on Friday nights at Sparks Stadium this fall.
The dynamic duo will broadcast eight games this season, including rivalry contests between Rogers and Puyallup, Puyallup and Emerald Ridge, and Rogers and Emerald Ridge. The contests will be broadcast on KLAY1180-AM and also can be streamed online at www.klay1180.com.
This will be Lambert’s 42nd year of broadcasting high school football in the Puyallup valley.
“We picked the best schedule we could,” he said. “I think we got good matchups that are going to bring a lot of entertainment to our listeners.”
The Lambert-Crowe combo will broadcast five Puyallup games, four Rogers games and two Emerald Ridge contests.
Every year, I look forward to hanging out with Crowe and Lambert in the press box. Their friendly banter and exquisite knowledge of the history of athletics in the Puyallup region is something I always look forward to.
Lambert said the chemistry between he and his broadcast partner is evident.
“Ron and I have really melded together,” he said. “We read each other’s minds. He can finish my sentences, and vice versa.
“We have a lot of fun. We love what we do and really bolster each other as broadcasters.”
Puyallup-area listeners can tune in for the season opener between the defending South Puget Sound League South Division champion Federal Way Eagles and Rogers Rams on Sept. 6 at Sparks Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled to take place at 7 p.m.
“Federal Way is definitely the team to beat in the SPSL South this year,” Lambert said. “I’m looking forward to that game.”
