Golfers of all ages will have an opportunity to compete in a fundraiser for the Roger High School boys soccer team.
The Rams will host their ninth annual summer golf tournament at noon Aug. 24 at Lipoma Firs Golf Course in Puyallup. Money raised will go toward team expenses.
Head coach JR Farias expects close to 50 golfers to attend.
“We’re expecting 10 to 12 teams with four golfers on each team,” Farias said. “It is a very non-traditional type of tourney. We tend to do things a little bit different. It is not the type of tournament for a very serious golfer. We like to have a relaxed tournament where everyone is having a good time. Lipoma Firs has been good to us and our golfers over the years.”
The cost per team is $320 — about $80 per golfer.
“We like keeping the tournament small,” Farias said. “Everyone knows each other, and it allows us to play the course at a decent pace.”
Each golfer will receive a sack lunch and a dinner at the conclusion of the festivities.
“We have a great tradition,” Farias said. “A few of the teams have been at every single tournament since we started this nine years ago. It is just a fun day. We’re all looking forward to it.”
