Early results in the Aug. 6 Primary Election as of 9:06 p.m. Tuesday night showed strong leads in both the Puyallup School District race for Position 4 on the Puyallup School Board of Directors and the race for Position 1 on the Sumner City Council.
Kathy Yang at 9:06 p.m. Tuesday was in a strong lead in the Puyallup School Board race with 44.72 percent of the vote. Leading behind her was Karen Edwards at 35.44 percent in 2nd place. Trailing third was Margie Silver with 18.73 percent of the vote.
For the Sumner City Council Position 1 race, incumbent Ed Hannus was etched out of first place by first-time candidate Earle Stuard who commanded 40.68 percent of the vote. Hannus was in second place with 24.88 percent of the vote. Trailing behind in third and fourth place, respectively, were Melony (Kirkish) Pederson and Jody T. Wilkins.
