The Sumner Downtown Association will host the 40th annual Sumner Arts Festival Friday through Sunday. The event will feature more than 40 artisans, including many long-time favorites, 10 tasty food vendors in the food court, live entertainment throughout the weekend at the Heritage Park Gazebo, and some amazing wine tasting featuring Cupcake Wines.
The festivities will kick off at 10 a.m. and run through 7 p.m. both Friday and Saturday. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Featured musicians at the Heritage Park Gazebo include:
• Friday: Hot Gypsy Jazz, as part of Music off Main, presented by the Sumner Arts Commission.
• Saturday: Will Power Big Band, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Featured vocalist Laurie Miller of the Sumner Downtown Association. Billy Farmer, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Farmer is the lead singer for the Diamond Experience. Cara Francis, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., smooth jazz sounds.
• Sunday: Rich Wetzel Jazz Orchestra, 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Cupcake Wines will feature four of its wines: Chardonnay, Red Velvet, Prosecco and Pinot Grigio.
SDA will offer the wine tasting at $10 for three tastes, plus a wine glass. All proceeds will support the Sumner Art Festival. Be sure to bring valid ID.
This year’s food court will welcome back many regulars: FFA Alumni with their chicken dinners, the famous SDA onion burgers, Fisher scones, the Sumner Rotary pie booth (Friday and Saturday only), Dixie’s Home Cookin’ Pies (Sunday only), and Faith Covenant Church with their heavenly tacos. The United Methodist Church will serve up a pancake breakfast, the Boy Scouts will offer Philly steak sandwiches, Rescue Me Coffee will offer hot/cold coffee beverages and a deli egg salad sandwich, Golden State Foods will be a go-to vendor for ice cream and root beer floats, Sumner Girls Soccer will be roasting hotdogs, and the Rainbow Girls will feature great treats for both the young and old.
Don’t forget, the Classy Chassis Car Show is just around the corner from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 18. We are currently taking registrations for it.
