Healthy, budget-minded cooking classes offered
David Gabbe, a vegeterian author and cooking instructor, will teach a pair of classes on Saturday, July 17 at Pierce College’s continuing education center, 716 South Hill Park Dr. in Puyallup.

Corkscrew Cellars hosts July 16 wine tasting
Corkscrew Cellars, located at 207 N. Meridian in Puyallup, is hosting complimentary wine tastings every Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.
This Friday, July 16, a representative from Renwood Winery will be at the store from 6:30-9 p.m. for another complimentary tasting.

Food bank in running for $250,000 grant
The Puyallup Valley Food Bank is competing with other projects around the nation for a $250,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project.
The food bank wants to use the money to purchase its own building and eliminate its rent costs.
Anyone is allowed to go online to www.refresheverything.com and vote for the project. The top two vote-getters receive the grants and the Puyallup food bank was ranked 77th as of July 5. Votes are tabulated until the end of July.
Pierce County hosting stormwater workshops
Pierce County Surface Water Management is hosting free workshops to help local homeowners’ associations learn more about how to maintain their stormwater systems.
One of the workshops takes place from 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the South Hill Pierce County Library, 15420 Meridian E. Registration is required and can be done by contacting Rosie Strom with the county’s surface water management team at 253-798-2485 or by e-mail at rstrom@co.pierce.wa.us.
Puyallup High Class of 1965 holding reunion
The Puyallup High School Class of 1965 will be holding its 45-year reunion on Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Fabulous Fifties Hall, 455 St. Helens Ave. in Tacoma.
The event runs from 5:30 p.m. to midnight. The cost to attend is $35 per person if paid by June 30. The cost increases to $45 per person after that For more information, contact Peggy or Dave Van Winkle at 253-848-4109.
Rogers Class of 1980 holding 30-year reunion
The Rogers High School Class of 1980’s 30-year reunion will be held at Puyallup’s Liberty Theater at 6 p.m., Saturday, July 24.
A mixer event for the class will take place at the Mazatlan restaurant, 13024 Meridian East in South Hill, at 8 p.m. on July 23.
Tickets for the reunion cost $65 per person or $120 per couple. Tickets for the mixer cost $15 apiece but are part of the reunion costs if purchased together. Credit card payments are accepted by phone at 253-864-8116.

Puyallup High Class of 1970 reuniting Sept. 11
The Puyallup High School Class of 1970 will be holding its 40-year reunion at High Cedars Golf Club in Orting on Saturday, Sept. 11.
The event begins with a social hour from 5-7 p.m., with dinner to follow. The golf club is located at 14604 149th St. Ct. E.
