Puyallup Main Street events for January The Puyallup Main Street Association is sponsoring events during January 2010. More information is available online at www.puyallupmainstreet.com.
— The annual meeting and Casino Night event is returning to the Liberty Theater on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010. The event runs from 6 p.m. to midnight and will feature live and silent auctions, a buffet dinner and casino games. Tickets are $35 per person and each person receives $3,000 in play money for games.
— The Puyallup Home Show returns to the Americraft Showplex from Jan. 8-10. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Washington State History Museum ongoing exhibits The following events are taking place at the Washington State History Museum located at 1911 Pacific Ave. in Tacoma:
— The Puget Sound Model Railroad Engineers, which operates the museum’s permanent model railroad exhibit, holds special hours on the first Saturday of every month from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors have an opportunity to watch the masters at work and ask questions.
— Icons of Washington History, now through July 3, 2010: This exhibit not only identifies icons but explores why and how these icons came to be symbols of our state. From the Space Needle and Starbucks to Galloping Gertie, Ezra Meeker and Dave Niehaus, see what Washington has done for the country and the world.
Museum of Glass admission prices, hours The Museum of Glass, 1801 E. Dock St., Tacoma, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. Every third Thursday, the museum is open until 8 p.m. and offers free admission from 5-8 p.m.
Prices are $10 for general admission, $8 for seniors, students older than 13 with ID and military, $8 for groups of 10 or more, $4 for children ages 6 through 12 and free to children younger than 6 and museum members.
There is a family rate of $30, which admits two adults and up to four children.

Children’s Museum of Tacoma offers exhibits The Children’s Museum of Tacoma, 936 Broadway, Tacoma, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Admission is $4.50 for children and $3.50 for adults. Families are admitted free of charge the first Friday of every month.
The museum encourages the power of play in young children and adults through educational, fun and creative exhibits and programming.

Spotlight Players announce meetings The Spotlight Players, a chapter of Valley Arts United, meet at 8 p.m. on the second Monday of each month at the Karshner Museum. Northwest Trek open three days a week Northwest Trek is a 615-acre zoological park devoted to the display, interpretation and conservation of North American native wildlife. It is located off State Route 161, about 35 miles east of Tacoma on the road to Mt. Rainier.
The park’s winter hours are Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Admission costs are: adults $15.50, seniors (65 and older) $14, youth (5-12) $10.50, tots (3-4) $7.50 and children younger than 3 are admitted free of charge. Military and Pierce County resident rates are: adults $13.50, seniors (65 and older) $12, youth (5-12) $9.50, tots (3-4) $6.50 and younger than 3 are admitted for free.
