— South Hill residents Jerry and Sue Foster celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. Jerry worked as an engineer for Boeing after his retirement from the United States Coast Guard. Sue received her associate’s degree in early childhood education from Pierce College and her bachelor of general studies degree from Brigham Young University. The Fosters have seven children: David, Debbie, Becky, James, Mark, Katie and Meeja, as well as eight grandchildren: Jonathan, Stuart, Jordan, Mason, Avery, Dylan, Mia and Sam.

Edna (Whitman) Eling will be celebrating her 100th birthday with a celebration in Tacoma on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Eling may be best remembered for her many years as a daycare providers for children of working families in the Puyallup area in the 1950s. She was also active in the First Methodist Church and as a den mother for a local Cub Scouts pack during that time.

Eling and her husband, Ted, moved to Tacoma in the 1960s. She will be celebrating her birthday at King’s Manor, 86th and Portland in Tacoma, with her large family and many friends. Her daughter, Deinita, and sons Robert and Larry extend their gratitude to the many hundreds of people who have helped to make her life so full and blessed.
