— Results of several recipe contests from the recently completed Puyallup Fair have been released. Local winners are listed below by category:

Puyallup Fair Apple Pie Contest: First place, Peggy Morris, Edgewood, apple-maple crunch pie. Second place, Susan Schmidt, Lake Tapps, apple pie double crust.

— Young artists from sixth to 12th grade showcased their best works at The Puyallup Fair’s 22nd annual Junior/Senior High Art Show. The exhibit featured 1,098 art pieces composed by more than 800 students from 34 schools. Works were done in pencil, paints, oils, watercolor and mixed media. Local Best in Show blue ribbon winners are listed below:

Leah Wright, Ferrucci Junior High School, instructor Deirdre Davis, “Snow Cat.” Christopher Sheppard, Puyallup High School, instructor Rebecca Lathrop, “Nature’s Reflection.” Colin Gorenstein, Rogers High School, instructor Sue Cole, “Pieces of Me.” Ryan Matekel, Rogers High School, instructor Cindy Fabulich Tate, “Aboriginal Wonder.”

— Hundreds of beef cattle were judged during The Puyallup Fair, held Sept. 11-27. Puyallup resident Courtney Tribble was named intermediate champion showman in the section 2, junior Hereford category.

— Many winners were announced in The Puyallup Fair’s Hobby Hall competitions. Local winners are listed below by category:
