The Liberty Theater wants to make sure a bride’s wedding day is about her and not setting up chairs and tables.
For this practice, owner Tom Neumann and his staff were acknowledged in The Knot magazine’s 2008 Best of Weddings awards. The magazine polled brides to find the top 35 reception sites on the West Coast and The Liberty Theater was one of the venues that made the cut.
What makes the Puyallup venue different from others, Neumann said, is the positive attitude instilled in his staff and the philosophy that the day of the wedding should be as non-stressful as possible for the bride.
“We eliminate stress by taking everything off the plate,” Neumann said. “The only thing you (the bride) have to worry about on your wedding day is having fun with your family. We do the work for the family because the last thing they need to do is work.”
This is why The Liberty Theater takes care of nearly everything and anything that comes along during the planning of the wedding. From setting up chairs to taking wedding photos, Neumann said his business caters to nearly every need of the bride and her party.
“Mom needs to have a good time, not pushing chairs, making food. You can’t reinvent that day once it’s over.”
Another cornerstone to Neumann’s belief on wedding days is that they shouldn’t be rushed. So when a family books the theater for a wedding, they have the venue from when the bride comes in first thing on her big day until 2 a.m.. Neumann said this type of service is uncommon in the wedding business, with many venues trying to cram in two receptions per day.
“You know what, those few hours mean a lot when people haven’t seen each other in 10 or 20 years,” Neumann said. “We aren’t going to shove people into a four hour time slot.”
As someone who has helped coordinate more than 1,700 weddings, Neumann said he understands the fundamental needs of the wedding party and believes a positive attitude will always help the situation arrive at a positive conclusion.
“We have an overall desire to make people happy and we want to have a fun atmosphere to work in,” Neumann said.
This desire, Neumann said, is what keeps business flowing, brides happy and The Liberty Theater the perfect place to tie the knot.
