Locals will have an opportunity to test out their swimming skills in an Olympic-sized pool this summer.

Beginning June 23, the Rogers High School pool facility is opened its doors for an abundant amount of programs lasting through Aug. 23. The pool will be offering swimming lessons, diving lessons, recreational lap swims, family swims, aqua aerobics and party rentals throughout the next two months.

“A lot of people don’t even realize we’re up here,” Rogers pool manager Jennifer Nicholson said. “We want the community to realize there’s a pool at the corner of 128th street and 86th street in Puyallup that will be available all summer long.”

Nicholson believes teaching individuals how to swim is one of the most important services offered at the pool.

“It’s important people living around here know how to swim. It’s a really a skill that is linked to safety,” Nicholson said. “Whether if you’re on a boat or in a lake knowing how the swim is so important. Once its taught it becomes a life long skill that is able to be used for the rest of their lives. We offer adult swimming lesson sessions and children’s swimming lessons sessions so people can learn with people in their age group.”

Not only does the pool offer a multitude of different services, it gives the public a chance to sit back, relax and enjoy hot summer days in style.

“When it gets hot outside during the summer people like to go swimming,” she said. “If they don’t want to go to a lake or in saltwater, we’re a great option. The pool was renovated in 2005, and is a beautiful facility. We’re open and ready to go.”
