Tiffany’s Inline Skating Speed team ended the season with a unforgettable performance at the mountaintop at the Inline Skating Indoor National Championships from July 13 to 19 in Lincoln, Neb.
Head coach Dennis King Jr. said his team had its ups and downs but that he was generally pleased with his teams’ performance.
“Every skater that competed put in one of their top three performances of the year,” King said. “Even though we had a lot more incidences of falls and crashes, we still did a good job for the most part.”
King was thrilled to see the nine members of his team near the front of the pack in almost every race.
“With one lap to go we were in front 90 to 95 percent of the time,” King said. “For some reason or another we didn’t turn up our share of medals but that doesn’t take away from how they did.”
Scott Stubblefield won the junior men’s novice division at indoor nationals.
“Scott broke some records and garnered some recognition,” King said.
While Stubblefield dominated his specific event, he wasn’t the only member of Tiffany’s speed team to get noticed.
“I was approached by some top level coaches and they were telling me how talented of a team we have,” King said. “We were a definite force and we did it against fierce competition.”
King is excited about the new speed skating season that is set to kick off in a short two months. First practices are scheduled to begin this October.
“I’m ecstatic about the future,” King said. “We’re hoping to be bringing in some world class additions to the team next year. I can’t wait.”
